Identification of errors in directory service authentication

The handling of errors in the authentication process is limited, as there is a concern regarding security so that the users of the system are not exposed. With this, some configuration problems in the authentication mode are only identified by the application logs, or, by the logs of the server where the authentication service is running.

 

For services that run on Windows Server, we recommend using the Event viewer tool, to help identify errors in authenticating with a directory service. The following is an example of where it is possible to identify the events of the NTLM v2, LDAP, and SAML 2.0 protocols in Event viewer of Windows Server 2012 R2:
